   I remember at the end Mrs Danvers going crazy and burning the joint down scaring the crap out of me as a 9 year old.

   I’m with you, servicecon. The image of her moving through the burning room = sleepless nights. Movie was made at the perfect point in cinematic time: the right type of sets,B&W film, and actors combining under The Master to create a classic Gothic noir.
