about

This blog covers mostly pop culture garbage (mid to low brow). I am interested in music, old movies, television (though I haven’t really followed a series since Buffy left the air), non fiction reading, old magazines(!), and celebrity gossip. My favorite movies as of late are Modesty Blaise, Bay of Angels and The Long Goodbye. My favorite band is The Beatles (Paul’s my favorite but I like them all) and Pavement and lots more. I love old magazines. Let me know what you think. I aim to please. I’ll flesh this part out later.

Mike.

  4. Dear Mike,

  5. Dear mike,
WTF. U writin’ my blog 4 me, man. Were U around in the 60s or R U a kid who loves my kind of stuff. Tom, Knowledge and Anon need a litt;le educating, because it’s actually better than even they think.
And I’ve only read the barbarella and Pink floyd bits! keep goin, on the great work, an’ don’t die on us man.
Yours, a totally sober davarm, except I’m high on those images!

I’m not a kid exactly (though I’m very immature) but I wasn’t alive in the sixties. Thanks for the kind words!

  6. So glad U’re young!
The site is really alive with my era and many others 2. You seem to have caught the flavour of the sixties. That’s not unusual, but the flair U have 4 presenting certainly is !

  7. based on the grammar of the gentleman above, I think it may be prince in disguise.

  9. Came to your brilliant site by accident. Isn’t it great when you don’t know where your going, you always come across things you would never find if you were on map.

  10. Interesting blog. I like the fact that it is more of a subversive pop culture blog. I just started my own blog called the “The Working class film fan”. Come check it out if you get the chance.

  11. I’ve just been sampling this blog, and it — well — refreshes a lot of me. Interested in a lot of this!

  15. chainedandperfumed

Glad to hear it. I try. I should mention that this blog was largely inspired by Tom Sutpen’s If Charlie Parker… blog.

    Thanks for looking.

  16. Very good concept. The information you have put here are useful and help us to remember the variety of creative ideas one can have. Your blog should be considered a good archive for creative arts.

  17. chainedandperfumed

  18. You were born in a pool of good taste. I love your blog and I don’t even read blogs…

  19. chainedandperfumed

  20. thanks for the daily rss entertainment

  21. Extremely pleasant blogging here but I can’t see where to “follow”. Am I being dense, or is this not something i can automatically follow??

    Thanks

I messed with the settings and it said the changes might not kick in until I post again so maybe tomorrow. Check back and see how it goes.

  22. Hello Mike,

I wonder if I could talk to you about one of the images on your site and where you sourced it; the one of Veronica Lake in a munitions factory. I work at a publisher and we’re interested in using it… Drop me an email.

  23. mother superior

  28. Found blog. Lost afternoon. I love it.

  29. Your blog puts the gloss back in old magazine clippings. Nice to know I’m not the only bizarre person with a liking towards things of this kind. Thanks!

  30. I love the pics and especially the one of Moura Budberg as a party guest. Do you know how I would be able to obtain a copy as I am writing her biography.

    Thanks

Thanks. Unfortunately I haven’t a clue. I got the photo from an issue of Sight and Sound from around the time of Accident’s original UK release. I’m not sure which issue exactly. I can track that down if you think that would be helpful.

  31. Mike,

Do you, by any chance, have a functioning email address?

  32. chained (Mike) — it took your recent gunslinging for me to find you here.

This place hits me where I live. Excellent!

    • chainedandperfumed

      Cool, Thanks.
I’m happy you like it. I really like what you’re doing over at …Charlie Parker…Keep up the good work!

  33. Hi, I came across your site and wasn’t able to get an email address to contact you. Would you please consider adding a link to my website on your page. Please email me back.

    Thanks!

I’m not sure why I’m assuming that this is not spam but here goes:

Drop the link here and I’ll add it as long as it is even slightly similar to what is covered here.

  34. Hi, Mike. I’m researching a PhD on Joseph Losey and came across your blog while looking for production sketches. I see you have Modesty Blaise up there with your favourite films – good man! I’m trying to get back to work, but it’s tempting just to hang around and explore your lovely blog some more. Cheers, Peter, Belfast

  35. Enjoy your postings very much.

    • chainedandperfumed

Whoa! Those are awesome—particularly the Jean Hersholt drawings. I’ve certainly never seen those. Thanks a lot.

  36. So, I thought you were some creep who wanted to follow my blog….little did I know it was my brother!!! You’ve been busy, Mike!

  37. FlowersHereGrow

I’ve been following your blog for years. Context: in my early 20’s now, but probably first found your blog at age 16 or so. It’s been a great way to discover records and movies and facts. Please do not stop posting! Have you retired the Lindsay Lohan history for good?

    • chainedandperfumed

Holy shit, someone is still reading this thing? I thought I was just doing it for myself and, like, 5 others (and all the spam comments that wordpress has seemingly stopped combating). Well thanks a lot for letting me know. That’s sweet of you. I don’t plan on stopping any time soon.

I did a Lohan thing earlier this year! I don’t do them as frequently as I once did but the occasional one will appear if the spirit moves me.

      Seriously. Thanks for stopping by.

      Mike

  38. I still visit this place regularly
    IT pleases me greatly

    I ain’t spam

  39. Salut! Hello! I am Sarah from Cross the Scan project, a participating art project for Beatles and Art lovers, I am trying to contact you but I can not see your email adress on your blog? You can contact us at les.nivaux@yahoo.fr I will write you back and explain you more our action! Thanks for your attention, All the best for your precious blog!

  40. Just found you when searching for Veronica Lake witch pictures. “Chained and perfumed ” sounds just right in the wake of the 50 shades 🙂
    – but what happened since May? You haven’t found life outside of the Internet? 🙂 ~~~ Sweden has copied your Halloween holiday – before we just had an “all souls’ day”, a rather somber day spent on decorating graves.
