life or death
Holy shit! The Head of Alfredo Garcia is up for auction on eBay. Or at least someone is claiming to have the actual movie-used prop Head of Alfredo Garcia and is selling it on eBay. The seller identifies himself as an actor named Nico De Silva. I checked imdb and it says that he was in Fletch and one episode of Highway to Heaven. So everything seems to be on the up-and-up here.
Bidding begins at fifteen hundred dollars which sort of seems like a bargain, I guess. Someone should buy this and let me borrow it.

southern boys just like you and me
In light of yesterday’s announcement that R.E.M. have split up—which, sure, maybe is something they should have done at least 13 years ago by my estimation—here’s a Stephen Malkmus-penned appreciation of their killer 1984 LP Reckoning. Originally published in a Q Magazine R.E.M. Special Edition. 2001.
