i need to give you Gimme Shelter back. watched it last night.
Ah Altamount anniversary. Cool.
And the legendary Jack Casady—- looks a bit eh concerned—-. f-ing SF angels ruining the vibe….
The taper of the Altamont bootleg recording can be seen clearly in the shot here of the crowd. He’s the guy with the short blonde hair in the upper right part of the picture. In his right hand is the mic. In his left he’s clutching his tape recorder. You can see it in total clarity in the original picture of this scene in Ethan Russell’s book of photos, Dear Mister Fantasy. Using a magnifying glass, you can see without a doubt that it’s a mic and a tape deck. I first discovered this on a hunch after hearing the boot of this show for the first time, reasoning that the taper must have been right up front (due to the sounds). I then remembered the photo in his book and how clear it was. The photo there has spectacular resolution. Sure enough, upon careful examination, there he was. Hats off to his bravery! He’s got a lot bigger balls than I have. I wouldn’t have stayed in that infernal reigon for more than ten minutes.
Oh wow. That’s pretty cool. He has a very determined look on his face. I’ve never heard that boot. I’ll have to see if can find it
