ahem .. – I had no idea *they did* this kind of audience testing back in the 20’s
I’m not sure I did either. I know that Keaton would preview his films for audiences and expanded the falling rocks segment of Seven Chances when the audience laughed at something that he hadn’t expected. but I’m not sure it was done so formally. Show business, I guess.
