Vic’s last flick.
An honourable 3rd (with a lot of daylight showing) between himself, Dreyer and Bresson for Jeanne D’Arc films. Actually perhaps not 3rd – there’s Preminger’s film, the recent Luc Besson movie, Jacques Rivette casting Sandrine Bonnaire, even Melies from 1900.
Bergmann did it all again 6 years later for her husband Rosselini in Giovanna d’Arco al Rogo
Great face, nice image, thanks for the post.
What a wonderfully strange (in all the best ways) your blog is. In just a few minutes I hit a wide variety of icons from across the decades that interest me. I am arbitrarily choosing this post for no particular reason (Ingrid Bergman is just one example of why your blog is interesting). I’ll be back!

There was a Melies? Thanks for letting me know. I’ll be on youtube if you need me…
Ah, the Melies on youtube is “a bit rough” to put it really politely. I mean the print. I don’t know how many survive..
